I am such an underdog.

Celtics v Magic was on last night. Game 5. It was a good one... but it was a game where the tides changed.

The Celtics started off the post season as the unanimous underdog. They were too old. Too injured. They were merely a shell of their championship team of just 2 years ago. As they were beating down the Miami Heat (my team of course!) I couldn't help but find myself rooting for them. The team that was too old and broken down, the team that everyone counted out- that's the team that was showing everyone that the TEAM is better than the individual. They went on to play the Cavs and the favored LeBron James... and against all odds, the Celtics put together a series of 4 fantastic games and took the win. You couldn't help but feel great for them.

Their streak continued as they put the defending Eastern Conference Champion Orlando Magic in the hole 2-0 stealing both of their games at home. After they went up 3-0, everyone said that the Magic were done. The Magic took game 4 in Boston and then last night took game 5 back in Orlando. I watched the game this morning via DVR and with every 3 pointer I pumped my fist in a little victory...

... and that's when it happened.

I realized that the Celtics were no longer the underdogs. The Magic were the ones in the holes... And they were clawing with everything they had to get back in the fight. And I was rooting for them.

I love the fight of the underdogs. It's why I love college basketball. I find myself rooting for the down trodden, for the weak.

I believe that it's IN us to root for the little guy. I believe that it's woven into the pattern of our being. That we were created with an undying love for those who need a voice. Why? Because that is who we are. We are the lost and the blind. We are the underdog.

Until we were found.

All through out the Bible we are given examples of how God uses the small and weak to overcome the big and strong. He did it for me... and He does it for you.

I hope you see yourself as an underdog today.
